APH: HongKong, Fragrant Harbor

The name "Hong Kong" is an approximate phonetic rendering of the Cantonese pronunciation of the spoken Cantonese (one of the dialects in Chinese Language) which is the commonly used spoken language in Hong Kong.

香港 (xiang gang) is the Chinese pronunciation of Hong Kong. It means Fragrant Harbor and it's a coastal island located at the southern part of China.

When I was a little girl I used to hear stories from my grandparents. About them and their lives in China and the past. And it's something I enjoy listening to as a young girl~

I'm a Cantonese and my history of family line from my Father's side comes from GuangDong Province in GuangZhou. During the world war, my grandparents fled to Hong Kong and as the war spread, they fled again to Malaysia and finally settling in Singapore.

And doing the Math, it does make sense on the time line when the war took place, I figure out when my grandparents made the trip to HK and to Malaysia and finally to Singapore.
